Anaplan Demo Data Creator

A quick and simple tool to create sensible dummy data ready to paste directly into your Anaplan models.

A Quick Demo

See how, in under one minute, a realistic and fluctuating data set was generated and added directly to an Anaplan model.

Create your data

Simple and flexible financial data with sensible defaults and interesting tailoring options - tweak the settings and generate your data.

Guidance

Tweak and tailor your settings to get just the data set you need.

Rows & columns

How much data do you need? Don't go over 10,000 cells. 17 columns is ideal for a full financial year.

Value settings

What range do you want your initial values creating between - you can even use negative numbers too!

Monthly fluctuation

Do you want to add a trend to each row of data?

  • Random: Each value is created totally at random between your range limits
  • Fluctuate 5%/10%/25% against month 1: We generate the first value at random but all others will be up to 5%/10%/25% either side of that
  • Fluctuate 5%/10%/25% against previous: We generate the first value at random but the second will be up to 5%/10%/25% either side of that, the third will based on the second, and so on
  • Increase month on month: You'll see a steady increase in values as you move across each row
  • Decrease month on month: You'll see a steady decrease in values as you move across each row

Advanced settings

Fine tune your data values and how they're output:

  • Value separator: The character used between each generated value. Anaplan loves tabs for this
  • Row separator: The character used between each row of data. Anaplan loves line breaks for this
  • Decimals: You can add an optional random decimal value to each generated data point between “.00” and “.99”

Creating distribution data

This will take a start value, and end value, and then generate a number of stepped values between them - great for simulating gradualluy increasing adoption numbers or sales figures.

Start, end & steps

These numbers drive your output and will generate the required number of incremental steps. Want a year's worth of data? Use 10 steps to create the missing 10 values.

Style

Choose the type of distribution - do you want to step up through values in equal increments or do you want a more organic growth curve?

Advanced settings

Fine tune your data values and how they're output:

  • Orientation: Do you want your values generated in a single, tab-separated line, or as a list with each value on a new line?
  • Decimals: Do you want your values rounding to whole numbers or do you want raw values with all the decimals?
